Carpal Joint Malalignment With Distal Radius Malunion and Factors in Correction After Distal Radius Osteotomy

چکیده

PurposeThere is a paucity of data regarding recommendations on when to correct for distal radius malunions and if the initial severity radiographic outcomes correlated with ability baseline. We evaluated effects corrective osteotomy preoperative carpal joint malalignment resulting from malunions, injury timing outcomes, developed straightforward classification system predicting radiocarpal midcarpal maladaptive patterns.MethodsA retrospective review included 26 patients (27 wrists) who reported closed treatment fracture subsequently underwent malunion. Data patient demographics, range motion, deformity, deformity correction, postoperative measurements alignment patterns.ResultsOf 27 dorsally angulated 16 were classified as type 1 adaptation 11 2 adaptation. The group showed significant improvements in parameters after surgery, except ulnar variance. parameters, radiolunate angle, radioscaphoid capitolunate angle. exhibited an overall decrease motion compared that group. Correction osteotomy of distal radius malunion stabilised with dorsal locking plates without grafting

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of our correction osteotomies of distal radial malunions without a bone graft. Eleven consecutive patients (mean age 52 years, range 18-71) were treated. A dorsal approach was utilised to perform an opening-wedge osteotomy which then was stabilised with two dorsal columnar plates without filling the osteotomy gap. All patients went on to rad...

Malunion of distal radius fractures in children

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Distal forearm fractures in children have excellent remodeling potential. The current literature states that 15° is the maximum acceptable angulation limit, though studies focusing on remodeling capacity above this value are lacking. We present data on the remodeling process in children with distal radius malunions with an angulation of ≥ 15°. PATIENTS AND METHODS Retro...

Tri-plane Osteotomy Correction of Distal Radius Malunion Addresses Shortening, Angular, and Rotational Deformity

INTRODUCTION: Rotational malalignment following fracture of the distal radius may be under appreciated and contribute to subluxation and dysfunction of the distal radioulnar joint. Rotational malunion is demonstrated by both plain radiographic and CT imaging. METHODS: Eleven patients with shortened, angular and rotational malunion underwent correction by performance of triplane osteotomy. Addit...

Computer-assisted Treatment of Distal Radius Malunion

Intra-articular malunions represent an exceptional technical challenge for the treating surgeon. Multidetector CT scans (MDCT) with three-dimensional (3D) surface rendered images are increasingly used not only for the evaluation of malunions, but also to develop a road map for surgery in patients who have been selected for corrective osteotomy.1,10,12 CTbased virtual pre-operative planning, inc...

Effects of distal radius malunion on distal radioulnar joint mechanics--an in vivo study.

Patients with a malunited distal radius often have painful and limited forearm rotation, and may progress to arthritis of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ). The purpose of this study was to determine if DRUJ congruency and mechanics were altered in patients with malunited distal radius fractures. In nine subjects with unilateral malunions, interbone distances and dorsal and palmar radioulnar l...
